not if you're not running Zeovit. If you plan to, then yes, you need a reactor. Lots of people make their own though so it doesn't need to cost a lot.

Its a reactor for holding zeolith media... just like carbon or phosphate remover... but zeo/ultralith media cultivates specific bacteria which clean the water. One feature of a zeo reactor/chamber is being able to 'plunge' the media once a day, breaking loose sediments and bacteria which feed the corals in return.
If you look into the KZ Zeovit system (www.zeovit.com), or ultralith (fauna marins version), you will see. They are actually very simple. An alternative which doesnt use the reactor would be prodobio. |
