vacation
If I am going on vacation for 11 days and don't trust anyone to touch my skimmer, am I ok to leave it off for the 11 days?? my tank is the one in my sig and it houses, yellow tang, pair of oc clowns, trio of lyretail anthias and a diamond watchman goby.
I don't want the cup to over flow, but I am thinking maybe just run the line from the cup to a bucket. I am just afraid my basement will smell like death when I come home from the skimmate being exposed in a bucket

I think that you will be fine with the line running to a 5 gallon bucket put a lid on the bucket and drill a hole on the top and put the line in there if you are worried about the smell

Like an411 said... cover the bucker and cut a hole in the lid to feed the line through...
If you want even more "stink" protection than that you could create an air vent/ deoderizer out of an old perscription pill bottle. Just cut another hole in the lid... cut a hole big enough for airline tubing in the top and bottom of the pill bottle. Stuff the pill bottle full of dryer sheets. Then hook up the airline tubing from the bottom of the pill bottle to the vent hole. Kind of like the top to the AquaC wast collector.

I use an empty milk carton instead of a bucket and it never smells.
