My lights...help me...

I have a 29 gallon with 150w 20k metal hals...The deal I had hanging my lights bent today and is now broken. I have them above my tank around 3-4 inchs, is that ok? The temp in the tank is 80.6...is that way too warm? What is the "perfect" temp?

Thanks,

Josh

80.6 is fine. I target 82 as the base temperature.

If the bulbs are now closer to the tank, the lighting might be more intense, which can cause issues. How high were they before?

Well, I might put a screen of some sort between the animals and the fixture. Sudden changes in lighting can cause bleaching and other serious problems.
