Puffer Teeth Maintenance

I am looking to get a puffer, but before I do I want to make sure that I can properly feed it. I've read on other forums and websites that they need hard shells to keep their teeth from overgrowing. I have been unable to find a source for small cheap feeder snails. Are whole shrimp hard enough to keep their teeth worn down?

Feed him shrimp or whatever you chose for the most part, just make sure hes got snail tankmates and every once in a while he will hammer a snail or 2 for fun, that should be enough.

Thanks, I wasn't looking forward to doing fish dentistry. Apparently some people actually give their fish anesthesia and file down their teeth.

A local reefer friend of mine is a big puffer fan. He knocks them out with some kind of oil and files their teeth by hand.
