Cleaning Sand beds

Ok I was told in a earlier thread that my 110lbs of live rock and only 50 lbs of sand in a 90 gallon is no good for my large diamond watchman goby. Is this true??? aparently he needs a lot more sand for food??

Well I love this fish because my sand bed is always white since I got him in there. I hate looking at a dirty sandbed. Now I look at some members tanks and there sand bed looks like its a brand new tank. How is this achieved???

are you using diamond watchman gobies as well??? is there another creature out there that works better than a diamond watchman goby that won't starve??

I would be interested as well in others answers to this. I have been thinking of getting one of these fish for the same reason, but my tank is pretty new, so I am hesitant and am waiting till the tank matures a bit before adding him so there might be more live food in the sand. I have 80lbs. sand in a 75g.

Nassarith snails do a realy good job with the top surface of the sand bead. They come out of the sand bed during feeding time and at night and go to work on the sand bead. I've had 3 diamond watchmans. I lost them I believe to another reason. My sand bed is not as clean as it was when I had a watchman. Just remember they like to dig burrows alot until they find a place to call home, your rock work needs to be stable.
