Looks like a really close-up shot of a pod.

can't tell much by the pic, but looks like it is probably just an amphipod, but could also be an isopod(can't really tell) which are bad

The top pic looks like an amphipod, they are fine.
The bottom pic looks like and isopod, some of them are parasites of fish but I cannot say whether or not that one is.
I'm gonna say amphipod and don't worry about it, but you should just do a google image search for amphipod and see what I mean for yourself.

they don't really do anything, some fish will eat them. You can put him back in if you want or if you have a refugium that would be a better place.

what you have is a Cirolanid isopod. very bad guy to have in the tank. they are parasites, and will attack your fish at night. if you found one, you probably have more . check your fish at night for those guys. here is some info on them.

I don't think the photo is good enough to determine what variety of isopod this particular specimen is. Many isopods are parasitic. Many are not. Keep an eye on your fish at night -- use a red flashlight to avoid scaring them off.

I think isopods are pretty cool - I'd like to have some of the carrion eaters or detrivores in my tank.

Also, scope out this giant isopod:

Awesome, no?

nasty... those things fall out of the halibut we catch. They live in the gills around here. And when the host dies the fall out and look for another host.. nasty
