So how exactly are you suppose to wire the IceCap ballast?

Just got my order in from ReefGeek and the directions don't explain anything. How do I wire the plugs up?

Those plastic holders where you plug the lights in, how are you suppose to wire those? I can unscrew the top part but I don't see any connectors to plug the wires into.

How do you hang the reflectors? There is no mounting equipment for the reflectors either so where do I drill the holes into the reflectors? What kind f screws do I use? There are no kind of instructions at all telling me how or what anything is.

If you can post on a forum, you certainly can do a google search....

And where in that post does it tell me how to disassemble the white plastic holders and wire them into the ballast?

Ok I'll play along...

If you are wiring up VHO lights the white connectors will have two holes at the bottom of them. Pushing the wires up into that hole is all that is required. The plastic connector has a one way copper clasp mechanism that will grip the wire and hold it in place. They probably didn't include a manual because it's not needed.

Sorry but anyone who has not done this before has no clue you just push the wires up there and they magically hold. A little note saying that would help 90% of the people doing this.

Thanks for your help.

Any help on the reflectors?

If you are talking about the waterproof end caps - the prestripped wires simply insert into them from the bottom. Much like the quick connects on a light switch or outlet. Once they are seated in they will not be able to be removed easily. If the set up really seems unfamiliar you might want to bring the equipment into a LFS and ask for a quick hand - the voltage up by the lamps can get pretty nasty. The reflectors came with clips that just clip onto the bulbs - don't go drilling anything. Ya know...you might want to give ReefGeek a call to help ya out a little ... as I read your posts its sounding like you might need a bit of 1 on 1 direction. HTH

BTW its not magic - its a basic spring clip - not really anything specific to this hobby.

Just that there is nothing saying any of that. A simple 3 line note in the box would have made everything clear.

They must have accidentally left the instructions out. The retrofit kit I got from ReefGeek came with 2 or 3 pages of instructions. E-mail Greg at ReefGeek (gmorgan@reefgeek.com) and I'm sure he'll be more than happy to send you a copy, maybe even an electronic copy.

The guy asks a legitimate question and you give him a hard time. I cant wait till one of you asks a question that has such "an obvious answer". The tone on this forum is sometimes too much. If you guys are so damn smart shouldn't you be working on a cure for cancer instead of bashing a neophyte?

Good luck with your lights.

I just installed the same setup from reefgeek and mine came with all the directions needed to install. First time I did this as well. I assume you had the wiring diagram from icecap, otherwise you would not have been able to complete the wiring. There is another set of papers with step by step on all the questions you asked. For some reason you must have been missing that.
