Question Live Rock

Does anyone have suggestions on different websites I can research the different types of live rock? My local LFS can order any type I prefer, just looking to do a little research to make an informed decision. Any help is greatly appreciated.

To Reef Central
you'll find there are many different type of live rock to choose from, with some more readily available than others.
the three most common you'll find are fiji, marshall, and tonga. you can also find kaelini, indonesian, aquacultured rock from florida, etc.
fiji is by far the most popular as it is the most readily available in the hobby. you'll want a nice porous rock that isn't so dense to allow for maximum bacterial growth area.
the best rock for the environment of course is aquacultured rock which is man made rock left in the ocean to be colonized by bacteria naturally. look up some online vendors and read their descriptions. liveaquaria and premium aquatics are a good place to start research. you can also ask them questions directly in RC's vendor forum regarding their rock. of course, it is best to hand select the rock yourself. good luck!

I have to agree with ezcompany, the best live rock is the rock you pick yourself. I will recomend Tampa Bay Saltwater for live rock. It's aquacultured in the keys. I have a mix of live rock in my tank because I enjoy the look of the different rocks. I have 15lbs from TBS and 15lbs of fiji from my lfs along with some dead pieces of coral I've found on the beach over the years.

I have seen it, many times; one of my favorites. I own the dvd collector's edition. I asked because I'm former USMC and EZ is in Cali, where I was stationed.
