new clam dies in 5 days?
Hey guys,
I have just bought a new baby maxium a week ago and its dead. I picked it up this morning and I notice some red looking, centerpide type worms around his foot. I have looked under my rocks and removed all that I could find. Also all of sudden Im getting red alge? Im usuing Instant Ocean salt. Im keeping up with my water changes. Any help is greatly needed! |

the clam could have died for many reasons, water quality, inappropriate tank mates or it could have just been sick. the bristle worms you found around the clam were just cleaning up the aftermath.
for the red algae (cyanobacteria) increase flow in that area and siphon it out whenever you see it and in time it will consume its food source and go away |

Many recommend getting clams no smaller than 3 inches or so because its hard to keep them fed.

Those baby maximas have a poor record of survival. Look for one that's about 3"+ for much better chances of success.

I have one other clam in the tank and its fine? I dont understand what happen? I done a water change today and checked everything and its fine. So thats what those worms are? They are beneficial right?
