Vortech
I am looking to get one for my 75 but I do not have a sump and I have a ATO so if I have the waves it will mess up the ATO. So can the vortech just run normal without a wave mode? Sorry for the dumb one

I hear that they are pretty loud. I have a Tunze and I love it. As for the auto top off, I guess it depends on how your sensors are mounted. Mine are in little containers so that the waves (although I don't have much since it is in my sump) don't mess with the floats.

i have two vortechs on my 70 and they are very quiet ( a slight hum noise that can only be heard if the room is completely quite). they produce a tremendous amount of flow and depending on how high you turn them up will produce quite a bit of surface agitation. maybe you could put a ring of pvc or something around your ATO probe to protect them as black mammoth suggested. the vortech controller has four options... continuous flow and three wave making modes and by experimenting with the differant modes and differant flow rates you could come up with a scenario that has limited surface agitation. good luck!

if you have a tunze ATO it will work with the wave just fine

I have the topoff from autotopoff.com. If I was going to go tunze what ones would you get and how many? And I have problems with sand storms as it is so I want something that I can turn the speed up and down

Your not going to get a big enough wave to worry about the ATO IMO. Also mine is very quiet compared to what others have reported. I can't hear it at all unless I'm working right next to it.

how close to the surface you place the vortech will determine how much wave action you get. i have mine three to four inches from the surface and get more wave action than my tank can handle if i turn them all the way up. at about 75% output i get great surface agitation, creating waves of about 3/4 inches in height. now that is using two vortech on anti synch mode.
