What's the least noisy water pump? Quiet One or Eheim?
Quiet One is also less expensive than the equivalent Eheims. Is it worth it?

I have both and really like the eheim better. I have one eheim running almost 11 years now constantly. Can't argue with that IMO

I had a rio 3100 that sounded like a small car running.(Exaggerating of course. ) I put in an Eheim 1250 that i got with my skimmer and I can't hear it when I'm watching TV or even just sitting there looking at my tank. Doesn't add 5 degrees to my tank either like to rio.

I like the Ocean Runner pumps they are super quiet and have a low energy consumption. The quiet one is a good pump, but not as quiet as the ocean runner. I have not owned an Eheim. I would of course recomend the Ocean Runner.

If its for flow applications with low head pressure, the laguna pond pumps are even better than the eheims.

Ocean Runner. Same quietness as the Eheim, with less wattage, and much less price.

Eheims are the quietist and most reliable submersible hobbiest pumps I know of. Some others come close, but Eheim's quality is impressive. Quiet Ones are, in fact, not quiet. Not at all.
Eheims have a long record of exceptional service. I have an Eheim cannister filter hooked up to small fw tank. No vibration and no noise. You can't tell its running. This is in itself unremarkable, except for the fact that it has been running more or less continously for 26 years. I've used a 1262 with my Aqua C 180 for the past three years. Superb performance, and utterly silent, smooth, trouble free. |

Ocean Runner or Eheim. ORs are more energy efficient and half the price so they win in my book, I have 4 of them now!

Sounds like you've used both. I too am in the market for a return pump and quiet is key. Which of the two would you say is quieter? Thx, John |

I would say they are about equal for sound. I have ORs both internal and external and they are silent as long as they are plumbed correctly.

Looking for a return pump. I was considering a Reeflo Snapper. It is 90 watts, I was thinking the Laguna 2400 may be another choice. I see it is 100 watts but head pressure should reduce that.

The Max-Flo Power Pump (1585gph/16.5', 115w) is one that includes a float switch inside it to shut-off the pump should the water level get too low (if its at all a concern).
Skimmer filter Pump 2150 (2142gph/15.7', 129w) Skimmer filter Pump 2905 (2905gph, 16', 137w) Max-Flo 4200 (4200gph/14'9",160w)... okay, maybe more of a flow-blased pump... Max-Flo 1500 (1500gph/13.5', 100w) |
