If you don't mind me asking.. who are the makers of the bulbs... UVL is UV Lighting... are the others Geisemann?

Also, I have some new bulbs lying around, can any of these be used?

2 - UVL Super Actinic
1 - Geisemann PowerChrome Midday
1 - Geisemann PowerChrome Aquablue Plus (is this Blue Plus or Aquablue in your listing?)
2 - Geisemann PowerChrome Actinic Plus (same question as above)

Thanks again!

Wow, so three major options now! and it looks like the Aquactinics are 2", so you can squeeze even more in

Thanks Grim. I just got off the phone with Aquatinics and the reflectors were released a couple of weeks ago and are available at all their retailers. According to them they are 2" wide and are made of the most reflective material currently on the market (and are the only ones using this). $27.95 at DIYReef. they come with the bulb clips. No retro kits though. Have to buy mounting hardware and endcaps seperately. Thanks again for the heads up!

Yes on the clams and SPS as long as the fixture is sat right on the tank.

Yep, I hit the wrong key, 2" for the Aquactinics reflectors. They are also moving to Miro Silver reflector material which should make them perform better than the Ice Caps.

Hey guys, I have some Blue+'s in a fixture and I really like the look they provide. I'm getting a deal on some 39w's from a guy and he can only get Geismann or UVL, so do either of these companies have an equivalent to the Blue+? And what would a good 4 bulb combo be w/ those bulbs for a whitish/blue look? TIA!

As long as you have them use the Midday in place of the Aquasun.
The Aquablue is the same and the Actinic Plus is the same as the Blue Plus so use those. I just prefer the ATI lamps is all. The look is similar between the two. Use the super actinic instead of the 75/25.

I would add a Blue Plus and a GE daylight.

Aquactinis makes a 2" wide retro reflector now, check to see if that will fit.

Actinic Plus is Giesemanns version of a blue plus.

Using those brands a 4 lamp mix

I just ordered 6 of the Aquatinics reflectors. I can only tell you qualitatively how they are once I install them but I will make it a point to update the thread when I do.

Check in here but it would be helpful if you create a new thread as well. A thread showing they can be updated with good reflectors would be helpful for others with that fixture.

Thanks

thanks Grim, I ordered the Actinic White as well just in case I'm not happy w/ the Aquasun, I remember it was a little pink or something on my other tank w/ the 4x24 combo I had.

Is 2 overdriven w/ IC 660 (39w) 3 ft & 2 (39w) HO 3 ft an overkill for a 3ft breeder 50 gal? No plans for SPS just a mixed lp & anemones. How would I know there is too much light. No experience using T-5.
Thanks

Thanks for update, these T-5 must be bright, still waiting for the aquactinic reflectors and IC430, had a 660 and wanted to put it to use but don't want the extra heat if light is not necessary, specially in AZ.

Hey grim, thanks for all the advice in this thread, i've been running the Nova 8 bulb light but ordered the Aquatinics Constellation today, I'm running in my Nova front to back -

Can I just use these bulbs and what order should they go in, or any others that would work better, I'll have to leave one out, which one is best to leave out, I'm running a 90 gal, mixed reef, hoping to start with more SPS, thanks Joe.

Hey Grim,

I usually do a search but I need to order this light yesterday.

I have a 40 breeder mostly sps. I'm ordering a 6-35w (overkill?) tek light today and am curious about bulb configuration.

What's your favorite for a all around crisp white/blue? I like the Iwasaki Aqua2 175w look.

I know you probably ansered this question 234234 times already, I appreciate the help.

I got mine from DIYReef. If you go to Aquatinic's Website they have a place to view their retailers. Seems no one has them in stock yet but they can/will be drop-shipped from Aquatinics.
