ID help
It's alive because we see it open up on the top. (The thing in the center)

Looks like some sort of clam maybe, but it's very difficult to tell. How far does it open and how often?

It only opens a crack, between 1/16th and 1/8th of an inch. How often I'm not sure but it will close if it feels threatened.

I wouldn't think it's any cause for concern. If it is just some type of mussel, it will be a good filter for your tank.

It's an Ark Clam, family Arcidae. You can image search for that family name and may be able to ID it. There are several different ones that it could be, and they vary by the length to width ratio and whether the outline is convex, concave, angular, or rounded, so it's impossible to ID these guys without several views, and even then you might have to remove it from the rock to get a positive ID. Either way, it's harmless, as are most all filter feeders.
