If its really old i might replace. Many basic test kits dont include phosphate and Dkh readings wich are important.

Also, anyone know if there will be aggression between the YWG and pistol with a jawfish? I've heard burrowers hate burrowers. Also, for the koralia nano, do I need 1 or 2?

One koralia will be fine in that tank. I wouldn't aim it too low though...might kick up some sand

Yea, I was thinking the 250 gph of the koralia along with about 150 gph from the AC 30 and also the 110 gph of the taam skimmer would be enough. 510 gph

That's a lot of fish for a 10g. Water parameters are also harder to manage in a smaller tank.

A 10 gal is going to be hard (very hard) for a "noob" to maintain. There is too little water (no sump) to keep healthy water quality. If you do it, start with 1 fish for about 6 months and make sure you are up to the challenge.

Yeah, I would go for larger aquarium especially since this is your first time. Many want to spend less for initial startup and compromise size for tank/equipment but in the long run, it's going to be more costly.

To jackfrost - I'm 15, why?
To Winnipeg - So maybe just the True Perc and either the YWG w/ pistol or the jawfish? To Gtstricky - Ok, its not really a choice for me, I am gettin most of the equipment for my B-Day and usin another $150 on the sand LR and probably the the goby shrimp pair or jawfish as my first fish since I've read clowns can be more aggressive added first? Some small frags gettin from my friends ( zoas, shrooms, lps ) To kes_reef - this is all I can afford and I'm not really sure, but I don't think I picked any crappy equipment that I will have to upgrade from, besides the skimmer maybe being bad because its on the cheap end. I know nano's are suppose to be harded to take care of and are much less fragile, but I think I can commit myself to make it work out, even as my first tank and having no experience with SW, which is totally different than FW. |
