125 and 180 lighting

I'm thinking of a 125 or 180

I have an outer orbit 3x150 hqi mh with 8x39watt t5...will that work for sps in 180? I know 125 is a bit shallower...180 is 24" deep...is my light strong enough to do a mixed reef in a 180?

3x250 might be better for a 180g but I think that fixture would work just fine as long as you are using top quality bulbs and any light loving SPS are placed accordingly in the tank.
