Having trouble with Euro Reef after adding gate valve

I bought a used RS6-2+ skimmer and finally got around to installing it today. I constructed my own gate valve for it as shown.

My problem is the skimmate, meaning there is none.

No matter how I adjust the gate, (closed, open or partially open), the bubble level remains constant.

Is the valve too high? What am I missing?

Rob

Your gate valve is in the wrong place. It needs to be below the T.

LOL - switched them out and bubble levels are awesome.

No wonder my wife rolls her eyes so much
