DIY Durso Standpipes

I am wondering if anyone has made their own Durso Standpipes and if they are a worthy upgrade to the Megaflow standpipe that comes stock with the AGA tank. If not the DIY version, are the ones you can order on the internet better than the AGA's? Do they allow more flow through the overflow box?

DIY is how most are done, AFAIK. They are a worthy upgrade to the megaflow because you can make the pipe larger, and set them up to run a little quieter. With larger pipe it handles more flow, although it isn't necessary to push a lot of flow through the returns, and the overflow itself is limiting.
