Ricordea Splitting
My orange ricordea has four mouths and seems to be splitting in two with two mouths per piece...
How long does it normally take these guys to split by themselves? Should I help it along by cutting it up? |

you can help it by cutting it up or you can just be patient and let it split naturally

Cutting them is always faster, but sometimes can result in damage to the coral. I myself have been succsessful with spliting Green Ricordia, but I have also experinced them just reconnecting and healing itself.

Can you just cit them withou the mouths and will they still reproduce. I have an orange and a green and I would like to speed up the process.

I ended up cutting it into 3 frags and already they seem to have healed and each has grown at least double in size.
I made sure to get a mouth (or two) on each frag. I -believe- you can cut them without the mouths, but they have a much better chance of survival if they have a mouth (or part of a mouth) on the frag. |
