They are good for frozen food and livestock.
They are also good to have around in case of an emergency. |

many LFS in my area, and a few are extremely helpful and offer advice I can trust. Can't say that about many stores.

I don't have an RO/DI system yet, so I still buy my salt water from my LFS. My LFS also has a sale on a different fish every Sunday. So I can get good deals on them. In addition, if I need something right away, they can't be beat.

That's not necessarily true. If your LFS has good sales, they sometimes mark certain fish down to near their cost just to get people's repeat business. If you go in there every Sunday to see what's on sale, you just might fall in love with that beautiful fish that is full price and buy it... matter of fact they bank on the fact that eventually you will. Once you figure in shipping, you can beat an online price on a single fish with no problem. Now buying quite a few items at the same time will almost always be cheapest via an online store.

Mine is good at giving me store credit for anything that I bring in. I have a problem with mushrooms and kenya trees and they always give me credit for my excess.

Yeah shmax that is true. Atleast for me though I could get one fish+shipping online for lower than I could at my LFS. It can be better to look at what your buying though unless you are ordering from liveaquria divers den, but they are more expensive.

The LFS is only as good as the amount of information you have about any purchase. They need sales to feed there family so its up to you to self inform. In many cases will match net prices and can sell small frags real cheap and have low priced used equipment and can let you view a fish or coral for a few days or longer before you buy. More plus's then minusis IMO.If done right. Impulse buying almost always lead to bad buys.
