250 watt bulb upgrade?

will a Hamilton 14K HQI MH bulb work in my Current USA fixture? I have the 250 watt de hqi current fixture...and the bulb I saw stated this:

150 and 250 watt double ended HQI metal halide lamp. A bright mix of blue and white light producing a crisp ice blue color. This bulb is brighter than their 20K double ended bulb counterparts and is a great choice for reef tanks. This bulb will bring out fluorescence in corals & fish well. Must be used with a 150W or 250W HQI ballast or 150W or 250W electronic ballast.

Actually it doesnt have to be Hamilton...I have the choice of Hamilton, Phoenix, Radium, Ushio, or Iwasaki. Will my current usa ballast fire up any of these bulbs CORRECTLY?

thanks

I have used many different bulbs with the current usa fixture. You can mix any bulb/ballast combo for the most part, but some bulbs are supposed to have their "true" color with certain bulbs. I would say go with the bulb you want, but check into the reeflux 10 or 12k bulbs......you will not believe the color and the GROWTH!!!!!! If you have strong actinics you might like the 10k, its whiter than most 10k's but if you want a little more blue, Go with the 12k's. Hamiltons are good too!!!! Just my two cents!
