Sealing Plastic pipe threads
Getting ready to finish plumbing my 125. Using a Reef Dart & Blue line 40. Unions and ball valves as needed with various nipples etc. On my smaller setup with the 55 gallon I used teflon tape but the pumps etc. were small in comparision. Suggestions on a product to seal threads first time with no leaks?
Thanks in advance. |

With the Dart I would use teflon paste, then tape, then some more paste.
Works every time. I know a few that just used tape on a dart and it leaked.

Get the teflon paste, for the larger fittings it works a lot better than the tape.

I recently used a product called blue monster,I think that's what it was, teflon tape. It was at the local menards. It is much thicker than the white or pink tape I've seen. Used it when I replumbed my return pump, a Dart, and it worked great. The only blue teflon tape I have ever seen.HTH.
