Major diatom bloom

I know this is all part of the new tank syndrome, but I didn't experience it this badly with my first tank.

My sand and LR are just about completely covered ( except the LR with coralline on it ).

I haven't been using RO, I'm actually putting together a system right now, will this help alot ?

I still have to wait at least another 3 weeks before adding my CUC, but this is Ugly.

I have really good flow so I know this isn't a problem.

You should have been using R/o from the start. Without it you are giving every algae in your tank an all you can eat buffet and you are exposing your tank to major algae outbreaks.

I know I should have been doing it from the start, but I thought I could get away with it cause my TDS's out of the faucet were 60. I had been planning on going RODI shortly, but this has pushed my hand even faster.

I've been in touch with Jim @ filterguys for the past couple weeks for the best system since I'm on well water.f

Now is the time.

grab some chemi mat or poly filter(I think that's the right name). it will help the phosphates out if you don't have phos reactor. And some other thing that might be in your water.

Hopefully just killed two birds with one stone. Ordered a RODI kit, price of booster pump was holding me back but I had to have it. Also ordered a phosban reactor.

I will use the reactor to get this mess cleaned up then probably just use it for carbon. Bought a slightly bigger maxijet 600 in case I decide to run two at once.

Thanks
