? What type of adhesive for Acrylic tank ?
It's been suggested that I use WeldOn 4 Cement (Can) and WeldOn 16 solvent (Tube) and E6000 has also been suggested...
I have E6000 and I can get WeldOn 16 in the tube but my supplier doesn't sell the WeldOn 4 but they do sell WeldOn 3, will that work? What have you used? |

So I'm guessing form this that only WeldOn 4 will work?

Not necessarily. I don't know what you're specifically using the weld-on for, but the numbers relate to drying speed of the weld-on, so you don't necessarily need 4, but it's recommended as the best because the amount of time it gives you to work.

Oooooohhhh!!!!!
Well now that makes sense! I am making a bigger sump... I have very specific measurements because under my tank is so narrow. I cannot find a commercial sump to fit... So the WeldOn 3 dries faster than the 4? is that the deal? and I can use the WeldOn 3? My LFS suggested the 4 and (in a can) and 16 (In a tube), and that I use the two of them in conjunction with each other... What is your opinion? |

I see thte 3 hardens in like a minute or less and the 4 takes 2 to 3 minutes.... But they do the same thing...

I would use the 4 , Ive used it. #3 would be way too fast unless you are an expert with the stuff. You can add some acrylic shavings to the #4 to make it a little bit thicker if needed. If you look you can find the Acrylic fabrication thread, its alot to read though. James from Envision posts on there and he recommends the #4.

Thanks man, I REALLY appreciate it!
I am also going to get the syringe applicators to put it in, thought that might make it easier to apply... |

yeah, I dont know how it could be done without i, its very thin. I would practice on some scraps first. The key is to have the edges prepped as best as they can.

Larah,
Send me a PM and I'll send ya to the local source for these things, or just call if you want. I have a few extra applicator bottles if you need them. If you have a little time, I can give you a few pointers as well if you want. I'm just down the road so if you need a little help, lemme know. HTH, James |
