Octopus NW200 (new style) owners inside

I recently picked up the newer style NW 200 skimmer. As you may know, the section above the "black cone" in the skimmer and below the collection cup can and will start to fill up with a wet skimmate after some time. Curious what has anyone doen to remedy this situation? Has anyone drilled and tapped a hole at the bottom of this section to drain into a collection cup?

just leave it how it is, it is not a design flaw at all and actually might help self leveling.
