temp. flucuation

i have a original aquacontroller hooked up to a dc8. i have a 150 watt ballastwise hqi ballast, this problem started with the installation of this ballast i am getting jumps in temperature with the ballast coming on and off. i tried grounding the ballast that did not work i have had this controller for 8 years i have not had one problem with it. so i am ready for a new one ac jr. could i expect the same interference or is something in the newer conrollers to prevent this

There is more electrical noise filtering circuitry in the new controllers, so I doubt that a Jr. would have any problems reading temperature with that ballast.
