How fast??
I have a 300 gal reef tank and a 60 gallon refugium. How fast should the water be flowing thur the refugium? Someone told me the slower the better but running slow all of the plants are dieing.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Bill |

The flow through your sump should be between 5-10 the total water column in gph and or match the output of your skimmer.
Depending on the use of the refugium then the flow can be anywhere from half that flow for filtration or about 1/8 that flow for developing pod populations

Also Capn_hylinur, I believe I had read in your Fuge thread (below) that you recommended occationally boosting your fuge flow for a short period of time to keep things healthy.
Bill if you have not read this I would suggest it. Its a long thread but good reading. Gave me some great ideas on different Refugium Types and now I am certain that I would like more than one in my system. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...+good+bad+ugly
