Carbon inside Filter Sock?

Just wondering if any one has ever put some Kent Reef carbon pellets inside their filter sock on their sumps? If no one has, does anyone have any thoughts on why it would or wouldn't be a good idea to do so?

BTW, I have 2 filter socks(100 microns) which I clean/wash and rotate once a week after water changes. I don't see how it would be a bad idea, but its worth asking before I make a huge mistake.

Thanks!

I have done this with mine in the past. If you don't clean the carbon really well, the filter sock gets plugged up pretty quickly. I did, however, place the carbon in a nylon bag before putting it in the sock. After I washed it out, it was good to go again.

...but I'm not implying that it's the best way, but it does get the carbon in the highest flow area of my sump.

I tried it and it got black pretty quickly. I had it in a nylon bag within the filter sock. I now run it in a TLF phosban reactor.

Great! So I guess it can be done, but I would just have to rinse off the carbon pretty good to avoid black dust floating everywhere which I anticipating on doing before anyway. Thanks a lot for the help everyone!
