button polyp invasion!

I have a colony of button polplys i would liek to countain in a small area so it doesnt grow up my frogspawn. What would be the best way to remove them if so alive, peeling them like zoas doesnt work due to thier mat not being strong enough. And if not how can i kill them without disturbing water chemitry and other corals?

I don't think polyps will be able to encroach, smother, and kill a frogspawn. The frogspawn should be able to keep polyps at bay - I know mine does. My twelve head colony is surrounded by zoanthids and polyps, and the polyps haven't gotten any closer to the frogspawn in the past couple of months. I would try to scrape them off and glue them to some rubble or a frag plug. If this isn't doable you can try using kalk-paste, followed by a water change to siphon out any dead or dying polyps. Be aware however that if you do use kalk-paste, use it a little at a time, as it can make your pH jump quite quickly. Kalk sections at a time, multiple times if need be. HTH!

I don't think it will encroach on your frogspawn... IF it gets bad you may have to remove the rock chisel a section off for yourself and trade the rest for a "clean" rock with no button polyps.
