Frustration
I know many of you have heard me rant and rave about the difficulties I'm having getting everything I need to get my aquarium started, but I'm going to ask a couple of questions with my ranting this time.
I've been waiting 4 months to get everything I have ordered over here to the good ol' land of the rising sun and I think I may be able to get started soon. The refugium is on the way, I have seen pictures of it built and the shipping receipts...should be here any day now, and I think I'll have to start without one of the boxes of rocks I ordered because it has been stuck in customs for over a month now...about to give up on it and be surprised when and if it ever shows up. I have the box of 50 lbs. of rock already cured and in water waiting to be used. For more information about it all, click on the red house above. I am having a hard time finding anything I need locally other than the actual fish, which I am still a ways away from buying. On to the questions: 1. I want to put caulpera or chaeto in the refugium, but I haven't seen any type of micro algae locally. Is it possible to order it and have it live 5-10 days in the mail before it gets to me? If so, where can I order it from that will send to FPO? 2. Same question with pods... I know most of you have never had to deal with these issues, so getting an answer may be difficult. I'm hoping there may be someone out there that knows someone who can help me out, or could suggest a good company that would be willing to hook me up on this. Thanks in advance! |

i would get chaeto over caulerpa. Lots of people sell it on ebay and here on this forum. They can just send it via USPS to an FPO. But, will this make it through customs? It would probably be seen as importing a foreign plant. Being in Japan, you can't be too far from the coast. If it's that difficult to get stuff mailed... maybe harvest it locally? People always frown about putting local coastal stuff in your tank.. but your case may require it... If i were you, i'd just head to Okinawa A lot of the things people want in their aquarium can be found there. Whether it's legal or not.. well :P
