Do I need a chiller?

My setup is a 220g tank surrounded on all sides by a built in cabinetry. My sump is located in the basement. Inspite of all attempts to ventilated the system effectively ( 5 fans in the canopy and a 140cfm panasonic exhaust fan and a fan on the sump) i am having temperature fluctuations from 79 f to 83 on a hot summer day in Ohio.

i am planning to have a predominantly SPS tank. Is this fluctuation in temperature too much? Do i have to invest in a chiller?

You would do better if you had a chiller.
Imagine, having hundreds of $ in corals in your tank, knowing the temp could go up high enough to stress them enough to brown out or kill them.
I would think spending $700 or $800 on a chiller would be alot of stress relief.
I bought a chiller for my 240 and have been glad I did ever since.

I bought the Prime Current 1/3hp chiller with dual controller from Dr.Foster&Smith.
I've been happy with it.
My tank is a 240 with a 85 gallon sump.
I use 3x250 mh and 4x160 VHO.
I would think you would use something in the 1/3hp range. No smaller. IMO

is temp fluctuation of 3 degree between day and night bad for SPS?
