Sea Cucumber vs. Starfish

Please help me decide which would be the best at keeping my DSB clean of detritus and fish poo in a mixed reef. What are the pros and cons of each?

The sand sifting stars will eventually starve in most tanks; several cukes, some nassarius snails, and possibly a rainsford goby or hectori goby should do the trick (the rainsfords will also eat filementous algae off of your rocks).

I'd start by reading here:
http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-12/rs/index.php

And read several of the other articles by Dr. Shimek as well:
http://reefkeeping.com/issues/author/rs.php

I'd vote to never put a Sand-Sifting Star in any reef tank where you want a good population of sand bed infauna...
