My Mag 9 has been going for over three years and I haven't touched it yet. Is your pump doing anything that makes you think that you need to replace it?

It hums every now and then. I think it is a vibration thing tho. It may move a lil and rub against the bottom of the sump in different places causing the noise....so far so good.

I had mine for four years before I upgraded to the eheim. Just upgraded for less noise it still worked fine.

If it starts to vibrate (make noise) or is having trouble restarting, the first thing you do is make sure it's clean. If that does not help, you can get the complete impeller assembly for $15 (which, is kind of a no-brainer expense in this hobby ).

Hi,

I have a Mag 18 that's been running for 8 years now. I replaced the impeller once after my sump ran dry by accident. Other than that, it's been great.

Incredible pump. I'll never buy another brand.

Andy

I once took this lady's tank down. Hadn't been topped off in 5 months because it was her husbands and they got a divorce. Everything still plugged in and dry, heaters, pumps, UV, etc etc. Lucky she didn't burn down the whole apartment complex for being completely ignorant.

The Mag 12 survived, don't know how..... bc it was too hot to touch just like the rest of it. Somehow it survived.

My 9 lasted almost 3 years to the day. I just made it into the 3 year warranty and they sent me another one free.
