Rinsing GFO and GAC
I was wondering if it is harmful to use tap water to rinse either of GFO or GAC? I know I should use RO but it would take me forever to rinse in this manner. Should I stop using my tap to rinse? How can it effect the media?

I am sure it isn't the best thing, but I rinse both of mine under tap water -- bathtub faucet, has the most pressure. I have been doing it that way for years without any issue.

the media may absorb some of the phosphates and other stuff in the tap water and exhaust the media more quickly. As far as how much of a real impact it has on life in the aquarium, I haven't the foggiest.
I generally rinse mine under tap because it would take forever in RO/DI |

The word in the chem forums is, tap is fine for rinsing.
