Yellow tang losing weight
Over the last few weeks my yellow tang has been losing weight. I've been feeding tetra color marine flakes to the other fish (of which he was partaking), seaweed salad, and mysis shrimp. As of late he has not been eating well and has been losing weight. I noticed it was recommened to add some garlic to the seaweed salad. It spiked his interest but he is still not eating like he used to. I was at the lfs today and one of the employees suggested adding romaine lettuce. Here's my questions:
1) How should the lettuce be prepared? 2) What else can I do to help him out before I lose him? I have checked all my water parameters and they all check out fine. No other fish are being affected. __________________

Don't give him rommaine lettuce. This is not what you want to do. Go to your grocery store and get NORI seaweed. Get the unspiced version. This is used for rolling sushi. Put some on a clip. Your tang will go nuts over it!

Definately don't feed it lettuce it is difficult for tangs to digest lettuce. A 55 gallon is yoo small for a yellow tang and if he is large he may be stressed resulting in him not eating.
What are your water parameters?

Your tang may have a intestinal parasite please post this on the fish disease treatment forum they will tell you how to treat it.

Also don't feed any saltwater creature anything that doesn't come from the ocean!

I also think you should quarantine him if not for a less stressful environment or at least til you get a handle on what the tang might have.

As I sit here this morning I've got a chance to watch his morning behavior. He is spending most of his time searching for flake food that has fallen on the LR and sand. I have not been successful in getting any information from the fish disease forum on parasites. Does anyone have any suggestions about that?
