Tube anemone dropping tentacles

I've got a good sized orange/pink tube anemone that I've never been able to keep in one spot yet. It likes to float around the tank, even if I try to bury its column or put it in a pvc tube, it still moves. Anyways I've been finding about 1" long pieces of its tentacles here or there around the tank. They still look very inflated and colorful for days after until they just disappear. Is this how it reproduces or are they being ripped off or perhaps broken off during its moving and pursuit for the perfect place?

I can't tell you why it's happening, but I had one that did just that. It moved (floated) all over the place, and left bits of tentacles all over until after a couple of weeks it buried itself and was the most beautiful anemone I've ever kept. Just hope it doesn't settle too close to anything else as the reach on these guys gets pretty long.

Did the bits ever develop into anything more or die? Did your settle in shade or in full lighting?

It settled in a medium flow area (the tentacles waved all over the place) at the bottom of the tank (full light). The tentacles never did anything, just dissolved into nothingness.
I also kept wanting to shove it into the sand and rock, but it never liked where I put it. Like some stubborn child, it needed to find a spot itself!
