cleaning live rock & sand

Proper use of muriatic acid when clean live rock I know this will kill the rock but that ok I just wanna know how to use muriatic acid with the live rock and how do you clean live sand is another ? I have for every but any help would be nice

Um, you might want to dilute that WAY WAY WAY down like .001% cause muriatic acid+Calcium Carbonate=big reaction.

I did find out that I have to use 10g of water to ever 1g of muriatic acid and then rise very well and then let it dry is this all there is to using muriatic acid with your rock and for the sand I was told to just run water thrue it and let it dry is this all true?

i read from pescadero in cmas forum that vinegar works better than muriatic acid and safe.

I soaked some rock in a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water for 24 hours and it did a great job. When I took the rocks out I hosed them off and all the crud rolled right off leaving pretty, clean white rock. Very safe and very effective.

I did the same thing with my macro rock...50/50 water vinegar for at least 24 hours. You can scrub some areas if the attention is needed but it does a great job after several rinse periods.

As for the sand, rinse, rinse and more rinseing. You'll save your self a lot of cloudy water now rather than later.
