Coral banded bully?
Hi all;
I recently picked up a yasha goby and man what a cool fish! As soon as I released him into the tank he shot under some LR and disappeared. I had read up on them prior and knew he would hide for a week or so until he got comfortable with the new surroundings. What I didn’t expect was to wake up on day 8 and find him being eaten by my hermits! What a bust! He looked perfectly healthy but was missing the entire tail, no way the hermits did that. I immediately suspected my coral banded shrimp because he’s the only critter in there capable and he’s particularly aggressive. This made me think back about two months to a twin spot goby that I purchased, he lasted 3 days before disappearing completely. Any similar issues with coral banded shrimp? Everything I read says reef safe and temperament is peaceful, but this one even goes after me when I’m feeding my corals!! Anyhow, I think I’m gonna take him to the LFS and trade out ofr a different species of shrimp, maybe sexies. Livestock, in case you doubt it’s the banded; 1 firefish 1 canary blenny (he wasn’t in there when the twin spot disappeared) Red legged hermits (2) Snails (6) 1 bloodsucking coral banded bully Bunches of corals |

I do keep them well fed---when I feed my aneomone and elegance coral I make sure some of the silversides gets back behind the shrimps rock. I would suggest peaking in the tank at night with a flash light--you might have another predator in there that you are unaware of
