How do you seal the overflow bulkheads on a perfecto corner flo?
I'm trying to plumb my 90g perfecto corner-flo tank but the bulk heads leak when i try to plumb it. It doesn't leak until i try to add PVC under the tank. I used the rubber washer and tightened it as much as I could by hand... i couldn't get a wrench/plyers back there to tighten it but i feel I did a pretty tight job by hand, but when i try to add the PVC plumbing it leaks a little... How should i seal it? I was thinking of some silicone on the inside of the overfow box.
Any experiences? |

Some people use silicone, but its not at all recommended. The bulkhead should seal on its own. If not, you should get a different BH.
Take out the BH, and make sure everything is clean. No sand or grit anywhere. Then go up and buy some silicone lube (NOT SILICONE). You can find it at ace hardware or on Marine Depot. It is NON curing and will help keep the gasket from craking as well as help create a seal. Rub a light coat on both sides of the gasket, and put the bulkhead back into place. Then screw the nut HAND TIGHT ONLY. If you wrench too hard on it, the gasket will get twisted. You only want is 1/4-1/2 turn past hand tight. HTH Jim
