used liverock question

so im getting a tank that hasn't had any fish for like 2 years, but they left everything still up and running with like 50 lbs of live rock and occasionally sprinkled fish food in like once a week...

should i leave it as is or recure it?

recure to be sure.

I'm a poet and I didn't know it.

Leaving it just running and some food put in occasionally doesn't make it a sure thing that there hasn't been any die off. If you can, test the water where the tank is now. Maybe all the readings (e.g. ammonia and nitrates) are at zero and the tank's still in good shape. If that's the case, then try to take the water that's in there now with the live rock and set it up with that. If you can do that, once it's set up at your place, throw a shrimp in the tank...the kind you get at the frozen food department at the supermarket. Then, test the water regularly. If there isn't a spike then you're okay and you needn't cycle. Otherwise, get it to your place and fill the tank with freshly mixed salt/RO DI water and test regularly. In that case, you will probably see some ammonia/nitrate and so let it cycle through. It most likely won't take very long.
