Storing Live Rock and Sand

I've been thinking about taking out a few pounds of LR and LS. What exactly do I do with it if I plan on using it later on down the line(A few months maybe)? Do I just put it in a contained somewhere?

unless you have ample space and really want to keep up with a seperate container of water - let it dry somewhere, and hose it/brush it off really well to get all of the dead stuff off of it.
