Starphire Glass at 3/8" thickness, worth it?

Thinking about ordering a custom 36x24x18 through my LFS, and I was curious what you guys thought of starphire glass at a 3/8" thickness, is it worth it?

They suggested 3/8" for the sides, 1/2" for the bottom, Eurobraced. The price isn't that rough, the stand is a bit expensive IMO, but the only way they'll give me a warranty (5 yr) is if I buy the stand from them.

IIRC the looks between starphire glass and regular glass really don't have much in diff. between clarity wise until you get to 1/2" or thicker glass.

I don't know if the thickness makes a difference, but I really like the extra clear glass and I'm glad I made the investment.

If I were going to have a tank custom built then I think I would spend a few extra bucks and get the glass upgrade
You know you want it

Also if you don't like the price or the terms then shop around a little.

Is the Eurobracing really necessary?

I'm actually thinking of the same size for a custom... did you end up getting the starphire?

I have an Oceanic 58 with 3/8" glass. The front is Starfire (another option for you). When I look at the edge of the glass (at the corner of the tank) I can see the diff. between the color of the glass in the front and in the rear. However, I don't really think that I can see a difference looking through the glass at the tank--if there is a difference it is almost imperceptible. Maybe if there were two identical tanks alongside one another...
