Mixing Salt, HELP!

At the moment i have 2 tanks. One old and one new. I will be slowing adding my old tank water with the new tank water to try to prevent a new tank cycle.

I have starting mixing the salt in the new tank (which is bare, no rocks,sand or fish). It has been mixing for a good 24hours now and the water is very cloudy.

The brand of salt is Oceanic. Any ideas why it is cloudy? Is this a major problem?

Also Is it problem mixing the salt in the bare tank. I know most say do it in a bucket but I did not have a bucket large enough.

When I set up the tank I just got I mixed it in tank cause I didnt know how to do it. The water was really cloudy for about 3 days then it cleared. I kept my powerheads moving the whole time also cause I wanted the cloudiness to go away. If its a bare tank then I dont think that it would be a problem cause you dont have anything inthere to mess up. Just keep an eye on S.G.

If its a lot of water you're mixing, it may take a while to clear up. Give it another day and see how it goes.

It's fine to mix in the tank so long as there is nothing live in the tank. Prolly just cloudy due to water temp, amount of salt, and so on. Should clear up after a bit. Make sure it's mixed well, stir it up if any piles of salt are still in the bottom.

if you stuck the salt in then the water this is why its still cloudy, if not dont worry it will clear, if the salt went in first you may have a problem, especially if you added too much salt

Thats an old myth ... using mature tank water has zip to do with a cycle. The bacteria live on the surface of LR, substrate, filter media, tank walls etc ... not in the water column.
