High Chemical Levels

I have a 55g tank and currently have about 55lbs of live rock and a sand bed. The tank has been active for about 4 months. I want to start adding polyps, mushroom and other inverts. Before I start adding these items, I want to get my Calcium, Phosphate, Magneium and Alkaline levels in line. As of now my levels are all reading high.

Calcium 640ppm
Phosphate 0.5 ppm
Magneium 1800ppm
Alkaline 3.3ppm

I am not sure why my levels are all high. I've read somewhere that bad lighting can cause high readings. As of now I do not have proper lighting (new lights are in the mail)

Has anyone had this problem or have any suggesting on what I should do?

I don't see how lights could have anything to do with the high readings.

What type of salt are you using, and are you currently dosing ?

After my initial setup I have been doing water changes using salt water pre-made from Pet stores

Might want to test that water before putting it in your tank. And/or try another test kit. Both the Cal and Mag is very high, and the PO4 for that matter.

Hmm that seems awfully high. Perhaps your test kit is off. I doubt lighting can cause those parameters.

I suspect the test kit, the test method, and salt mix in that order.

yep could be bad testing and poor water quality from the pet store, the lights have nothing to do with it
