Best Lighting????
I know this question is probly asked many times before, but what exactly is the best light for coral, like sps and lps? And what exactly does kelvin mean? Is it better to have a lower number kelvin or higher?
Also for example is a 10K Metal Halide light the same as a 10K LED light if there is such a thing? Any responses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

There is no 'best'. We all decide which ratio of growth/color we want, and choose a bulb accordingly. Higher K look nicer/bluer, while lower K offer more light usable to the corals for growth (PAR).
Kelvin is the color temperature of the bulb. Think of it as an approximation of the color. The higher the K the more towards the blue/violet end of the spectrum. The lower the K the closer to yellow. 20,000 K is very blue. 6500K is very yellow. Most people choose 10K to 14K as a good medium.
