After Calibration PH Probe it says probe Defective Restoring

I'm calibrating the PH probes for the first time and after calibration, The AC III says Probe Defective Restoring. Do i have a bad probe? The probes appear to not calibrate. I've left them in the calibrartion fluid for 15 minutes and the bottom left hand number never seems to completely settle.

owe and I enabled them.

Thanks Thysrof

It could be a bad probe but just to check....

Did you remember to remove the rubber protective cap before calibrating?

yes the fluid caps are off. I actually tried 3 different probes and both ports on the controller. I know the probes aren't bad because i calibrated them with my pinpoint monitor.

I've been Emailing Curt at neptune and he says the ports are bad and I've got to mail it in. owe well I'm in the North nay and Neptune is in San Jose, so the turn around time shouldn't be bad.

owe to confirm there was a problem he had me conect a paper clip or piece of wire from the in side of the port conection to the outside silver part and tell him the settling reading it was 8.6.

Just so you know... this was a useful thread. I had no idea those were caps on the end of the probe. I was able to overcome my "defective probe" problem on your advice to remove them! Hey, how was I supposed to know?

thanks.

It is described in the owner's Manual in Chapter 4 - Probe Installation:

pH Probe Installation
The rubber cap on the end of the probe should be removed before it can be used. Once the protective cap has
been removed the probe must be kept wet at all times. Failure to do so will result in damage to the probe. If the
probe is to be stored for some period of time, place pH=4.0 calibration solution into the protective cap before
placing it on the end of the probe.
