My clown finally found the anemone!!!

After 6 months my tank raised clown found the anemone, I was just curious how long it took others.

I had tank raised clowns in both tanks long before I added the nems. Took one pair 3 days the other 3.5 weeks.

Different species Clowns are different. Clarki's like I have will host to my moving finger in the water practically lol. And they are tank raised. But when I had a Percula it did host with A BTA but took a few days.

And every fish is different of course. So ya never know.

I added a RBTA three months ago. After a month it split so now I have two and my Ocellaris clowns still haven't found them.

It took my female ocellaris about 1 year to associate with an anemone. The male never made it to the anemone (not sure if that was his choice or the female's choice). Now that I got rid of the anemone they both associate with some mushrooms. My clowns are tank raised.

I had a pair of false percs. It took one of them three months to finally host in my LTA. The second one never did take to the anemone. Go figure...

It so varies w/ diff clowns, IME maroons, clarks, and pinks pretty much dive right in, others may take a while or never.
Helps to have a natural hosting nem for that species.

My reef is set up as an island layout and my clowns host in my Hairy mushrooms on the front with my two anemones being 6 inches away on the back side. The clowns cant find them since they never move more than 3 inches from their present home.

After 4 months in my tank, my female A. percula found a torch coral, of course that was the day before I pulled all my fish to QT because I had an ich outbreak.
Upon return to the tank it took her 3 more months to decide she wanted my feather dusters as a host.
After about 2 more months she accidently swam into my Long Tentacle Anemone chasing a food chunk, and has been in it ever since.

After a few days i was fed up with my juvenile yellow stripe maroon to stop swimming at the top of the tank as if it was trapped in the current.

I decided to take my feeder baster and "bated" my maroon with food with a trail of the food leading all the way to the BTA.

It worked like a charm, it was as if the maroon got stung and went into a paralyzed state for a moment and then BAM!!! the maroon couldn't get away from the anemone.

It was one of the coolest thing I've seen with the tank...other than witnessing the maroon take a dead hermit crab and give it to the BTA...

If you bate him, he will host...
