My powder blue is an insomniac.

I never see it sleeping. When I wake up middle of the night to get a drink or whatever, there he is, swimming around.

He is otherwise healthy. Eating alot, good colors. '

Can fish die from now sleeping?

PS I do run my hangon refuge lights at night to offset ph drop, so there is some residual light.

If he's not showing any signs of stress you really have nothing to worry about. It might be that he sees you and thinks he's going to get fed. Just like humans, fish will tend to find a way to sleep despite the lighting conditions. Not that they actually sleep in terms of dreams, REM cycle, etc. they technically go into a state of suspension.

How long have you had it? Sometimes in the beginning, fish will remain active even during the night.

My powder blue does the same thing. He's the only fish I see in the middle of the night but he does have a cave picked out for when he decides to have a nap.

Sounds just like my Achilles. That Fish is always moving around. Usually always doing laps late at night. They are just real active fish I guess. If it looks healthy and is eating fine I wouldnt worry about it.

Most fish don't sleep in the same sense as humans. Many will go into various states of tupor (I think that's what its called) where the body and senses sort of slow down. While others like schooling fish that live in the open ocean never slow down.
