sump

OK so after keeping my tank for the last 6 years i have become tired of looking at my heater and skimmer ( tunze 9005) as both things sit in my 29 gal tank, along with 3 koralias. Now i am only 17 and my parents wont let the tank be drilled as they dont want me to take it down to do so, and they want to amke sure that whatever i do wont overflow if the power would go out ( like a siphon) so with this in mind is ther ANY possible way i can have a sump..... LIke cant i pump water down to a small tank, then back up to the display with a pump rated a little higher then the one goin down???? thanx everyone

lol ya ive tried that and i get the "some day when you move out you can have as big of tank as you want" but ive thought about overflows however i heard that if the power goes out they will still siphon water to the sump so wouldnt it over flow. And then if power is restored do you have to be there to start the siphon back up??? thanx alot

why not have a small tank above the tank.
use an ordinary pump out of yer tank and that fills the tank above, but remember to drill one tiny whole above the water line in the above tank (on the line in) so that in case the pump dies it doesn't back siphon. section off an area with a hole in the bottom of the above tank... as it overflows into that area it flows out back into the main tank.

or just get a hang on back refuge... you see em on ebay all the time ($50).

Well i dont think a HOB would work as it needs to fit my tunze 9005 which is kinda big, but as far as above tank my display is in my room against a wall so there is nothing to hold a tank up higher than it. Are there any types of liek overflows that wont backsiphon?? ANd also ones that with start working noraml after a power outage????? Thanx
