Best way to plumb a 5/8" to 1" return?

Well my next tank is currently being built. When planning it out I decided to go with a 1.5" hole for drain and a 1" hole for return in the overflow.

My issue now is that I plan on going with an Ehiem 1260 or 1262 and both have 5/8" output.

Is there any way to plumb it so I can use the 1" hole in the overflow, or am I better off just slinging the return over the back?

I was thinking that maybe there were 1" bulkheads with a 5/8" hole????

The 1260/1262 will accept 3/4" PVC fittings. You'll then just have to get a 1" to 3/4" reducer fitting for your 1" bulkhead.

Thanks!

Will the reducer affect the pump output?

Would you happen to have a picture or link fro the reducer?

You need a 3/4" MPT to slip fitting. Use a sched 80 fitting since it is longer and will screw in farther. The other part you need is a 3/4" to 1" slip/slip adapter. Put a 1" union on next for easy pump disconnect.

You can actually use the sched 80 3/4" MPT to slip, and a 1" union will fit right over it. A little PVC glue and you are all set.

Nope.

Don't have any pics but you should be able to find them at any Home Depot/ Lowe's or the like.

Agreed, having a union makes maintenance much easier.
