Interest in Live Cultured Marine Phytoplankton and Zooplankton
If there is enough interest we can do a bulk order from lfscultures.com 160.00 minimum order for free shipping. Check out their website for many species of fresh and marine algae and invertebrate cultures. Here is a bulk order sample from off their website. This price is a couple years old, so new shipping costs may affect posted price.
BULK RATE FOR FEEDER MARINE ROTIFERS / ALGAE CULTURES For feeding fishes/sea horses or resale. We ship them in plastic bags via UPS Ground with enough air and food to sustain them for weeks. The weight is about 2.50 Pounds per bag. Free shipping. Per bag ($8.00). Minimum order 20 bags. I would be ordering 3-4 bags myself at regular price and shipping. If enough people want some, we could get the free shipping and bulk price. My understanding from what I have read is that it can be stored in fridge for several weeks. I plan on setting up cultures myself, and feeding off the rest.

We were just discussing this at the last meeting. The club actually owns a whole phyto making setup or two and are out on loan to people from what I understand but I have not seen any available for quite some time now.
I thought about making some myself but time has been a little tight this year for me. I did find a site where you can subscribe to monthly or quarterly shipments of Phtyoplankton &/ or live rotifers. I just got my first shipment last week and just wanted to try it all out first before I gave my thoughts to the club. I gotta say though for the price it blows away anything else I have seen, plus shipped to my door priority is nice considering I am over an hour from the nearest place to buy it. I had poor luck over the years with DT's. the last two times I bought it in memphis i had to throw them away. they were dated another 1-2 months still but upon opening they smelled very strong of sulphur to the point of very rotten eggs smell. Essentially no good. |

FYI I've got the phyto reactor up and running so I should have some for club members soon. If anyone has two liter CLEAR plastic bottles and is coming to the August meeting at my house please bring them. Hopefully I'll have enough to give a 2 liter or two away.
